WHAT I DO

Hello, I’m Sarah Louise Matthews, a freelance paper engineer and paper cut designer. I work with a variety of brands and individual clients to design and create diverse, bespoke papercuts, paper flowers and paper sculptures for anything from photoshoots to visual merchandising to events.

Selected clients include:

Harlequin Design

Oasis Fashion

Beaverbrooks the Jewellers

Pavillion Books

Immediate Media

Knot & Pop

Please don’t hesitate to get in contact if you are interested in discussing a commission, no project is too big or small and I am always up for trying something new. Just drop me an email with your desired deadline and some information about what you’re looking for – the more detail the better!

Alongside taking bespoke commissions, I am also a purveyor of fun, papercut stationery and paper goods, approaching design with a focus on quality and playfulness. My distinctively graphic, cheerful collection is designed, cut and hand-assembled in-house, each piece beautifully crafted with the intention of raising a smile and being treasured as a keepsake.

Wholesale customers, please feel free to email requesting a catalogue and line sheet if you are interested in stocking my work in your shop!

WHO I AM

I am a design-enthusiast, sucker for good packaging design and self-proclaimed perfectionist, who loves to explore, wear stripes and nest when not in the studio.

‘Paper Engineer’ would have been my dream job as a child, had I known of its existence. Well, it would have been a close second after professional Ballerina anyway. I have been a maker for as long as I can remember, from my earliest memories folding origami penguins and cutting paper doll chains, to graduating from my Textile Surface Design Degree in 2011 with a graduate collection of paper jewellery, to now spending my days buried under paper in my studio in Nottingham, cutting, folding, gluing and interlocking to create innovative and playful paper designs.
